EVERLASTING

This is an absolute 70's gem. The incomparable Miss Natalie Cole singing THIS WILL BE. She was always one of my glamour icons. She has always been such an amazingly gorgeous woman and if you can believe it, looks even more amazing today at age 58. In this clip, her look is totally doing it for me. Her afro is a true fashion statement. Gorgeous smile. Beautiful skin. Natural makeup with a dusky blue eye shadow. And the pièce de résistance is that one shouldered, dolman sleeved, crystal detailed and monogrammed palazzo pant jersey jumpsuit - MAJOR!!!

THE GOOD OLD DAYS

Genius, precocious, glamorous, eloquent, multi-talented, stylish, self confident, fashion forward, forward thinking, reverential, groundbreaking, inspirational, funky, galvanizing, focused, opinionated, gorgeous.......self righteous, hypocritical, off-kilter, ego maniacal, crazy, self loathing, psychotic, erratic, venomous, inconsistent, unreliable and down-right scary.....before Amy Winehouse, there was Lauryn Hill.

GLAMOUR REDUX

Lauren Hutton channels Sunny Harnett, kinda. Hands down, Sunny wins this game of fashion roulette. Mother was wearing the hell out of that draped, one shoulder column and served face in the NAME!!!!!! This is actually one of my all-time favorite fashion photos (funny enough, it was shot by Avedon, who shot my all-time fave, DOVIMA AND THE ELEPHANTS). This is all at once elegant, sultry, glamorous and dangerously sexy. Lauren's photo is laudible too - this was from her Ultima makeup campaign - the first exclusive makeup contract ever, and she negotiated it herself!!! It totally has that cheesy 70's vibe going on with the over-perched, scary queen and the dirty ole' man leering over her shoulder. What it lacks in artistry, it makes up for by being a pop fashion culture gem.
